Amazonka je druga najdaljša reka z največjim porečjem na svetu, brazilski geologi pa so odkrili podzemno reko, ki Amazonki sledi skoraj vseh 6.000 kilometrov in je več stokrat širša. Redkokatera reka se lahko kosa z Amazonko in njenim ogromnim, razvejanim porečjem. Pri 6.400 kilometrih dolžine jo prekaša le Nil, njen pretok pa pa presega sedem preostalih največjih svetovnih rek - skupaj. A kot piše BBC, smo do zdaj videli le polovično sliko.

V tem primeru verjetno ne gre za kakšno podzemno jamo, kjer bi tekla reka, ampak bolj za podtalnico od Amazonke.
Je pa zanimiv podatek, da po Amazonka po vsej dolžini nima niti enega mostu.

To bo najbrž zato, ker tam graditi neko strukturo je tako kot da bi si postavil vikend na živem pesku.

Je pa res da ne za dolgo časa, saj se tam novi most kot megaprojket gradi že nekaj časa oziroma let.

The Manaus- Iranduba Bridge over the Rio Negro branch of the Amazon River, near Manaus, the Amazonian metropolis of 1,2 million inhabitants, linking the large city and the whole Northern/ Northeastern Amazon to the Southern Amazon area and thus the rest of the country. Today cars usually take a four-day ferry-boat ride from Belém, on the mouth of the Amazon River, to reach Manaus from Eastern and Southern Brazil (if you come from Venezuela or the Northern Amazon, there is a good road). The road leading south of Manaus, the BR-319 was swallowed by the jungle in the 90's and "environmentalists" prevent it being rebuilt, though it seems it will be rebuilt anyway shortly, linking this great bridge to the state of Rondonia and the rest of the nation.
Construction started in 2008 and completion is due in 2010 or 2011, if the ever-threatening environmorons don't stop it.
